The Patterson Middle School girls track teams competed at the Killeen ISD middle school district prelims on April 5 against the top 33 athletes in each event.

Only the top eight in each event advance.

The following Lady Cavaliers qualified for the KISD finals:


400-meter relay—Wanjiru Randolph, Alexus Whiteside, Ashley Bentley and Darionna Levy (first place)

800—Khya Gray (fifth) and Alycia Winters (eighth)

100 hurdles—Mahal Thorpe (first), Alanna Howard (second), Jasmin Carson (sixth)

100—Alexus Whiteside (eighth)

400—Mahal Thorpe (first), Anecia Prater-Lockley (second), Amani Bradshaw (seventh)

300 hurdles—Dariona Levy (first), Meleanna Williams (second), Alanna Howard (fourth)

200—Khya Andrews (second), Amani Bradshaw (seventh), Ashley Bentley (eighth)

Long jump—Alanna Howard (second), Alycia Winters (eighth)

Triple jump—Alycia Winters (third)

The following events were run as finals on April 5 and these CPMS girls earned the following place in district:

High jump—Jakaria Burdett (first), Darionna Levy (second), Elaine Eakin (tied for sixth)

Pole vault—Cienna Madrigal (first), Elaine Eakin (second) and Trinity Cronk (sixth)


100 meters—Tia Landrum (fourth), Breonna Fleming (seventh)

400—Daija Planas (fifth)

300 hurdles—Tashonna Banks (fifth)

200—Makaila Smith (first), Ceana Robertson (fourth), Tia Landrum (sixth)

Shot put—Cielo McClain (fourth), Amie Cornielus (fifth), Sydney Brock (eighth)

Discus—Cielo McClain (third), Marissa Knapp (sixth)

Long jump—Makaila Smith (fourth)

Triple jump—Tia Landrum (second), Makaila Smith (third)

The following events were run as finals on April 5 and these CPMS girls earned the following place in district:

High jump—Tia Landrum (tied for third), Breonna Fleming (sixth)

Pole vault—Dominique Patton (first), Evelyn Litau (second), Kayla McFall (sixth)

S.C. Lee girls finish second and third in district

The S.C. Lee Junior High girls track teams participated in the Centex Junior High District Track Meet on Monday and Tuesday.

The seventh-grade girls scored 110 points and finished third. The eighth-grade Lady Cougars placed second with 103 points.

Lee’s Oni Boodoo was the top scorer in the seventh-grade meet with 32 points. Other top scorers were Kajah Lamkin (ninth place, 18 points) and Taleah Samuel and Jordyn Seible (10th, 16 each).

In the eighth-grade meet, Isabella Chavez was fifth with 20 points. Arianna Wilson was ninth with 17.

Harker Heights JV Red 4, Academy JV White 1: Jacob Mitchell pitched a complete-game, two hitter to lead the Knights to a victory Monday.

The lone run scored off Mitchell was unearned. He struck out nine in six innings.

The game was called after six innings due to inclement weather.

Mitchell also went 3 for 3 at the plate.

Ransom Cochell, Tyler Austin, Justin Luedecking and Alex Pons also got hits for the Knights.

Defensive standouts for Heights (11-7) were Jackson Owens at third base and Brendan Lesperance at first.
