Natalie Harris and Livyhana Alvarado capped a big day for the Patterson tennis team, winning their girls singles brackets in a match against Union Grove on May 6.

Harris won the eighth-grade bracket, winning 6-3 in the first round. Deidra Body also won 6-3 for the Lady Cavaliers, and Inaya White prevailed 6-4 for her first-ever singles victory. Jazzmin Suter lost 6-2.

Body and Harris faced off in the second round, with Harris winning 6-0. White fell 6-2. Harris went on to win the final 6-4.

Alvarado led Patterson in a first-round sweep, winning her match 6-2. Natalie Penman (6-3) and Syiera Haywood (6-0) also advanced. Alvarado topped Penman 6-3 in the second round. Haywood and Alvarado wound up playing for the championship, and Alvarado prevailed 6-0.

On the boys side, Patterson’s Brenden Mitchell lost 6-1, and Jacob Bauer lost 8-6 in eighth-grade action. Union Grove’s Jeffrey Tran and Jaylin Rawls battled for the championship, with Tran winning 6-2.

Isaac Camacho played the only match for Patterson in seventh-grade singles. He lost 6-2 to Union Grove standout Yazan Chtay.

Rawan Tarabeh finished in second place for the Union Grove girls.

Nhur Fernandez, Serenity Hoffman, Reagan Quinn, Cassidy Melvin and Grace Constance also competed for the Grizzlies.
