The Patterson girls track teams returned from spring break and picked up right where they left off — breaking more school records in Tuesday’s tri-meet against Union Grove and Audie Murphy at Harker Heights High School.

Kera Harvey set the school mark in the 2,400 meters with a time of 9 minutes, 44 seconds. Evelyn Lorenzo broke the eighth-grade record in the 800 at 2:40. Kierra White broke her own record in the eighth-grade 400 at 1:07.39.

Jazmyn Byron matched the school record of 13.22 in the eighth-grade 100, and Lauren Thomas matched the school mark of 34 feet, 1 inch in the eighth-grade shot put.

The eighth-grade Lady Cavaliers swept the relays. White, Markayla Tucker, Byron and Sarai Mizzell took the 400 in 53.0. Right behind were teammates Lorenzo, Ja’Nay Prichett, Kaisy Cochrane and Markita Tucker in 54.75.

Patterson also had the top two in the 800 relay. Rebecca Wright, Markayla Tucker, Amariel Smith and Byron crossed in 1:58.22. Next were Prichett, Jade Farmer, Cochrane and Tiana Dickerson in 1:59.60.

Lorenzo, Tiana Platt Sawyer, Prichett and Tiana Dickerson topped the 1,600 field in 4:45.32.

Aubrey Giles won the 3,200 in 13:30. Hannah McClain was third (15:23). Giles also won the 1,600 in 6:20.

In the 800, Ichani Norman finished third (2:50) behind the record-setting Lorenzo.

Record-setter Byron led a 1-2-3 Patterson sweep in the 100. Markita Tucker (13.28) was second, and Farmer (13.37) was third.

Markayla Tucker (52.75) and Lindsey Miller (57.97) took the top two spots in the 300 hurdles.

White was second with her school-record effort in the 400. Zykirah Thompson (1:11.62) placed third.

Cochrane (28.81) and Dickerson (29.94) took the top two spots in the 200.

Naudia Vasquez was second in the 100 hurdles (19.09). Smith (19.18) was third.

In the field events, Norman led a 1-2-3 Patterson finish in the high jump. She cleared 4-7. Kylie Swanson (4-6) was second, and Mizzell (4-6) was third.

Kira Bass was second in the discus (72-8½). Angel Myles (70-8) was third.

Bass was third in the shot at 30-6.

Vasquez finished second in the long jump (13-11). Lorenzo was third (13-9).

Caprield Joseph was second in the triple jump at 30-0½. Moore placed third (27-3).

Amari Baxter was second in the pole vault at 6-6.

Harvey’s school record was good enough to win the seventh-grade 2,400. Christian Barista (10:44) was third.

Harvey also won the 1,600 in 6:17. Teammate Deyanna Reed was second at 6:30.

Reed led a 1-2 Patterson finish in the 400. Her time was 1:08.19. Kania Prichett was next at 1:09.90.

Amyah Collins won the 100 hurdles in 18.4. She also led a 1-2-3 Lady Cavs finish in the 300 hurdles with a time of 54.37. Next were Jaquerra Santiago (57.44) and Taylor Brodine (59.82).

Keyanna Hunter won the 100 in 13.64.

Demaria Herron, Nevaeh Barnes, Trinity Lewis and Hunter won the 800 relay in 2:00.35.

Patterson placed two teams in the top four of the 400 relay. Ja’liz Simmons, Tiana St Cyr, Prichett and Hunter were second at 56.84. Herron, Lewis, Nakera Hulett and Jasmin Martin were fourth (57.41).

The 1,600 relay was second, with St Cyr, Reed, Prichett and Harvey clocking a 4:57.65.

In the field events, Barnes won the long jump. Simmons was fifth.

Lanihah Harrell placed second in the shot (33-7). Lanyiah Ballard was second in the discus (69-2), and Barnes was second in the high jump (4-4).

Emily Lee finished third in the triple jump (27-9).

The Lady Cavaliers’ next track meet is the Killeen ISD conference meet Monday and Wednesday at Harker Heights. Monday is the running events for the girls and field events for the boys, and Wednesday is the field events for girls and running events for the boys. The sessions start at 5:30 p.m.


The Copperas Cove subvarsity boys track teams competed in the Ellison meet on Thursday.

The freshmen Bulldawgs swept the top three spots in the pole vault, led by Daveon Meadows’ winning effort of 10 feet. Next were Travis Stofferahn (10-0) and Aiden Paquette (7-6).

Connor Medrano won the freshman 800. Alonnie Carter was second, and Najae Smith fifth.

In the shot put, Trevon Lewis was fourth (32-8), Daniel Llanez fifth (31-6) and Josh Abbott sixth (30-7).

Jacorian Frazier, Kenyal Knight, Brandon Ortega and Kendal Parker were third in the 4x100.

Dustin Jones was fourth (98-2) in the discus.

Tremaine Boast was second (33-7) in the triple jump.

Tresean Marie was fifth in the 110 hurdles. Marie was second in the high jump (5-2). Aaron Gonzalez was third (5-2).

Isiah Chisolm was fourth in the 100. Ortega was sixth.

Frazier, Marie, Parker and Chisolm were third in the 4x200.

In the 400, Brandon Jackson was third, Spencer Simpson fifth, and Tramaine Boast sixth.

Frazier won the 200. Chisolm was third, and Jackson sixth.

Frazier was third in the long jump.

Simpson, Jackson, Parker and Knight won the 4x400.

In the junior varsity division, Jayden Aldrich led a strong showing in the pole vault with his win at 10 feet. Stacy Drayton (8-6) was third. Tony Luevno and Tristen Stromitis tied for fourth at 7-6

Tommy Connell was the 100 hurdles. James Torres was fourth.

Connell also won the 100. Elija Snead was sixth. Connell was fourth in the 200.

Kevin Johnson won the 800.

Ezekial Buchanan was third in the shot put (36-5).

Cove placed three in the high jump, led by second place Keimarcus Johnson (5-10), Tyler Bailey was fifth (5-6) and Chisolm sixth (5-6).

Mathew Aguino was fourth in the 3,200. Tristan Stromitis was fifth.

In the discus, Tim Eeagans placed second (119-2), and Dadrian Adams was fifth (105-6).

Levi Smith was third in the long jump (18-9½). Moses Sullivan finished fourth (18-6), and Connel was fifth (16-5).

Micah Cox was second in the 300 hurdles.

Kevin Johnson was fifth in the 400. Stromitis was sixth in the 1,600.
