At Gatesville, the Hornets fell into a 6-5 hole in the top of the eighth inning, but Tyler Jaynes scored the game-tying run and Jake Kee added the game-winning run to help Gatesville earn a victory.

Led by Seth Martin (3 for 5, run scored), Matthew Wallace (3 for 4) and Wyatt Crum (2 for 4, 2 RBIs), the Hornets (20-14, 4-5 8-3A) finished the game with a dozen hits, but also recorded eight errors.

This marks the third consecutive season the Hornets, who conclude the regular season against Lampasas on Thursday, have missed the playoffs. The game was moved up a day in order to avoid conflicting with Friday’s Region I-3A track and field meet at Lubbock.
