At Rogers, Jeff Speer was a combined 4-for-4 at the plate Thursday, including a pair of RBI singles as the Hornets took a 6-4 lead against Rogers, but Gatesville surrendered a combined seven runs from the fifth inning on to go 0-1-1 on the first day of the Rogers Tournament.

The host Eagles rallied with two runs in the bottom of the fifth to tie it at 6-6 before the game was called for time and Navasota scored one in the fifth and four more runs in the sixth in an 8-3 win.
