After a two-year hiatus, the Salado Lady Eagles are headed back to state.

For the first time since winning the 2A state title in 2010, the Lady Eagles golf team is primed for championship No. 6 after rolling to a first-place finish at the Region II-2A tournament championship behind a pair of top-4 individual finishers Tuesday at Legends Country Club in Stephenville.

Salado senior Meredith Ward finished second individually with a steady two-day total of 170, including shooting an 84 on Day 2, while teammate Sarah Colley finished fourth individually with a 176 after entering the day in second with a first-day 83.

With a two-day score of 713 (354-359), the Lady Eagles won by 56 strokes ahead of runner-up Cameron Yoe as both advance to the Class 2A state tournament May 2-3 at the Roy Kizer Golf Course in Austin.

Kate Goldsmith shot a two-day 179 (93-86) while Molly Rodeffer finished with a 188 (92-96) and Rachel Ray had a 200 (93-107) for Salado.

Emily Taylor of third-place Howe took home individual gold with a two-day 157 (81-76), shooting a second-day four-over-par Tuesday.
