District 8-5A co-MVPs Jasmine Goodwine and Kenesha Saygo were recognized by the Texas Girls Coaches Association last week.

Goodwine, a 6-foot senior forward at Killeen, was selected to her first all-state team while Saygo, Ellison’s aggressive senior point guard, was named to the TGCA 4A-5A All-Star team.

Saygo, the Killeen Daily Herald All-Area girls basketball MVP, averaged 12.2 points, 4.1 assists, 3.1 rebounds and 2.9 steals per game this season. The Lady Eagles finished 32-4, setting a school record for wins in a season, and won their second district championship in the last three years.

Goodwine, a four-year letterman who’s signed with Rice, averaged 19.5 points and 8.9 rebounds a game and led the Lady Roos to their ninth consecutive playoff appearance.

Temple’s Ketara Chapel was also named on the TGCA All-State team after leading the Tem-Cats to a 26-9 season.
