The government shutdown won’t keep the Ellison Eagles and Belton Tigers from taking the field at Hood Stadium on Friday night.

That game along with the other remaining five football games involving Killeen Independent School District schools will not be affected by the federal government shutdown that was implemented Tuesday.

According to Maj. Adam Weece, a public affairs officer for the 3rd Cavalry Regiment who is filling in for civilian personnel furloughed from the III Corps office, Fort Hood’s Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation runs Hood Stadium and was unaffected by the shutdown.

KISD leases the stadium for roughly $4,500 per game in order to avoid Thursday night varsity football games.

The government shutdown began on Tuesday after the House and Senate could not agree on a bill to fund the government.
