The consensus was clear: Trent Gregory is the man to return Ellison to its former glory.

After three days of interviews this week, the Killeen Independent School District hiring committee selected Gregory as the Eagles’ next head football coach and athletic coordinator Thursday.

        IGNORANCE!
That one word sums up the entire process! That and the buddy system, the Mansfield hook-up?

        WELL PUT GRIDFAN!

“He really had a lot of confidence, a precise and coherent vision of how to bring about success on the football field,” Dominguez said. “He drew up plays for us on the whiteboard in his interview and we really felt good about what he wants to do with our football team.”

Mr. Dominguez, what do you know about football? The plays Mr. Gregory drew up obviously don't work. LOOK AT HIS RECORD!

Barry Walker, defensive/offensive coordinator at San Antonio East Central — brother of former Ellison head coach Robert Walker, was on Eagles staff from 1995-98.
How in the world did Barry Walker not make the cut? His brother and the rest of the Walker Staff put ELLISON on the MAP!

Where is this hiring committee's logic?

“The thing that stood out about coach Gregory to me was during his time as head coach at Anderson, there were three separate years where the team made playoff runs, and we’re trying to bring back a culture here of expectations of winning and expectations of getting to the postseason with our football program,” Dominguez said. WHAT ABOUT THE OTHER 8 YEARS?

By comparison, in 11 years as a head coach at both 3A Sealy and Sinton, Mitchell has a career 91-36 record and made the playoffs 10 straight years (2002-2011).

WOW! MITCHELL DIDN'T EVEN MAKE THE FINAL CUT!

As a TAXPAYER, I am outraged! What is the collective amount of Salary being made by this hiring committee, and how is it JUSTIFIED?

        Sub .500? Duuuuuuuuuuuuh( 39-64.)
He(Gregory),would have never made the first cut. This hiring group is clueless. It all boiled down to "He was a coach at Mansfield Timberview" when such and such was at that school".
We(Kisd) are the proud owners of two of the longest 5a losing streaks in the state of Texas in the last decade.STOP HIRING LOSERS!!!!!!!! The UIL,for the most part, controls who plays(no pass no play)so hire someone who knows how to win games and leave the Road scholar building to the teachers!
I hope this guy can turn it around,no,I really do,but his track record just doesn't make me think he can.
Gregory was interviewed on 1660 and said he was going to open up the offense(GOOD)and get the ball to all the "speed" guys that Ellison has(?)He didn't watch film did he?For the first time in a long time, speed is absent from Ellison................................Good Luck!I hope this guy prepares better going forward.
