One week into the season and the Harker Heights Knights are already starting out on a hot streak — beginning from the opening tip.
After a 25-4 start against Austin Reagan in the season opener Tuesday, the red-hot Knights opened up with a 16-2 uppercut in the opening quarter and road that to a 64-51 beating of host Round Rock Stony Point on Friday.
Led by four players in double figures, including 18 from 6-foot-5 senior post Andre Hughes and 12 from guard Cameron Delaney, the Knights (2-0) were ahead 14-1 by the midpoint of the first quarter and were ahead 25-9 by halftime.
“Pretty much everything (worked), we jumped on them pretty quick,” Heights coach Celneque Bobbitt said. “We just came out and played some really good defense and coasted from there.”
