COPPERAS COVE — Sidney Holman tossed a four-hit shutout and the Belton Lady Tigers defeated the Copperas Cove Lady Dawgs 10-0 in five innings Monday.

The Lady Dawgs (2-2 8-5A) never got a runner past second base against Holman, who struck out five and didn’t walk anybody.

Kacey Scheske was 2 for 2 with two RBIs for Belton. Bekah Alcozer and Alyson Bishoff also had two hits. Brittany Bass hit a solo home run in the third inning.

Elliana Doubleday, Carlee Duran, Destiny Henderson and Rachel Jost each hit singles for Copperas Cove.

Five-run third lifts Lady Buffs over Cameron Yoe

FLORENCE — Courtney Culp hit a two-run double to highlight Florence’s five-run third inning and the Lady Buffs held off Cameron Yoe 5-3 on Monday for their first district win.

Florence (6-5, 1-2 District 22-2A) scored all five runs with two out in the bottom of the third to take a 5-1 lead.

Clarissa Carranco and Samantha Vaughan also had RBI singles in the inning.

Florence starter Emily Gray struck out nine in 3 2/3 innings before leaving with a sore arm. Mackenzie Futrell pitched the final 3 1/3 innings and fanned three. The two pitchers allowed just four hits.

The Lady Buffs host Rogers today at 1 p.m.

Salado rolls past Rosebud-Lott

SALADO — Mallory Schattle and Sheyenne Hicks hit back-to-back first-inning homers and Meagan Hill tossed a two-hit shutout as the Salado Lady Eagles routed Rosebud-Lott 9-0 Monday.

Hill struck out nine, and Rosebud-Lott’s two singles were the only baserunners for the Lady Cougars.

Nobody reached second base until Salado was charged with a passed ball in the top of the fifth.

Schattle socked a two-run homer to center in the first inning for the only runs Salado needed. Hicks followed in the clean-up spot with a blast to left-center.

Hicks finished with four RBIs.
