BROWNWOOD — Ashley Cook had 26 kills and Paige Chambers had 42 assists and the Gatesville Hornets closed the regular season on a four-match winning streak with a 19-25, 25-12, 25-8, 25-15 win over the Brownwood Lady Lions.

Megan Chambers had 20 digs, Lexi Hall added 14 kills and five digs and Lauren Nichols had 17 digs and seven digs for the Hornets, who finished second in the District 8-3A behind No. 24 Liberty Hill. Cook also had four blocks and Paige Chambers added a pair of aces.

Gatesville (32-5, 8-3A) opens the 3A playoffs next week against District 7-3A’s third-place team at a time and site to be determined.
