The Lady Bulldawgs defended their home court Tuesday evening, defeating Brenham 86-51 as every player on Copperas Cove’s roster scored.
After scoring 13 points in the first quarter, the Lady Bulldawgs (8-2) posted at least 23 points in each of the following quarters, outscoring the Cubettes 23-4 in the fourth quarter, while not allowing a Brenham (3-6) to make a single field goal.
“We started knocking down some perimeter shots, and I changed up (our defense) to a full-court man and tried to press the tempo just a little bit, and we got a couple of deflections and steals,” Copperas Cove head coach Teresa Durham said. “One thing leads to another, and they just kind of got on a roll. Defensively, when you are doing good things, it makes it easier to score.”
Senior guard Shawnte Goff certainly had little trouble generating offense for the Lady Bulldawgs. Goff scored a game-high 24 points, making 12 of 13 attempts from the free-throw line, and added team highs with eight rebounds, eight assists and seven steals.
“If I’m not scoring then I try to get as many rebounds or assists (as I can), and try to help other people out,” Goff said. “I know I can do way more than just score.”
Guards Jasmin Johnson and Angel Mullen each finished with double-digit scoring, recording 14 and 12 points, respectively.
