It may have been a slow start by Copperas Cove standards, but by halftime it was a rout.

Led with six Lady Bulldawgs scoring at least seven points apiece, Cove improved on a 14-8 first quarter effort and mounted its first double-digit advantage of the game Monday with a 21-12 second quarter en route to a 57-42 win over host Austin LBJ.

“In the second quarter we were able to open up a lead, and defensively we were able to get some deflections,” Cove coach Teresa Durham said.

Junior post Xylina Carlisle led Cove (7-2) with 10 points while Shawnte Goff and Bryaunea Hall each had eight points, and Stephanie Cochran, Mikayla Blount and Jasmin Johnson added seven apiece.
