Harker Heights notched its first two wins of the season Friday in the first day of the Garland ISD Tournament, though one was a little easier than the other.

The Lady Knights (2-3) took care of business in their first match with a 25-13, 25-20, 25-12 win over Princeton before falling in straight sets to Sachse, 25-23, 25-12, 25-11. Heights’ second win came by way of a forfeit against Canyon Creek before succumbing to Prince of Peace Christian School 25-17, 25-17.

Senior middle blocker Kathleen Janda led with 13 kills and 15 blocks, Karissa Hegens added 10 kills and six blocks while Breanna Gelsinger had 21 assists. Defensively, Roxanne Sonni and Tracie Campbell had 17 and 15 digs, respectively.
