Soccer Roundup Lady Roos split pair of matches in Centex tourney

The Killeen Lady Kangaroos opened the season by downing Arlington Sam Houston and losing to Austin on Friday during the opening day of the Centex Tournament.

Killeen (1-1) beat Houston 1-0 as Alyssa Williams’ goal three seconds before halftime proved to be the difference. Lexi Summers picked up the assist on the score.

Later in the day, Killeen was shut out by Austin 2-0.

The Shoemaker Lady Grey Wolves (0-2) were shut out by Austin High 4-0 and Pflugerville Connally 8-0.

Ellison (1-1) began the season with a tournament split, beating Gatesville 5-1 then losing to Arlington Heights 5-0.

After losing to Ellison, Gatesville (0-2) was shut out by Elgin 2-0.

Copperas Cove (2-0) got its season off to a good start with a 1-0 win over Lampasas followed by a 8-0 victory over the Harker Heights JV.

After losing to Cove, Lampasas (0-2) suffered a 3-2 setback to Leander Rouse.

Knights drop two at Temple tourney: At Temple, after scoring four goals in a season-opening rout Thursday, the Harker Heights boys couldn’t find the net in a pair of 2-0 losses Friday to Odessa and Bastrop in the Temple Wildcat Invitational.

The Knights continue play in the tourney today at 11:30 a.m. against Georgetown East View at Wildcat Stadium.
