Salado’s swiss-cheese run defense was shredded once again as host Lago Vista racked up 401 rushing yards in a 55-23 blowout Friday, both securing a playoff berth and eliminating the struggling Eagles from one in the process.

Led by a pair of 140-plus yard performances from Scott Zufelt (148 yards, 3 TDs on 16 carries) and Seth Lozano (144 yards on five carries), the Vikings (6-3, 4-2 13-2A, Div. I) jumped ahead 21-0 in the first quarter and 42-3 at halftime in a game that was out of hand before the break.

Junior quarterback Ryan Simmons (12-of-25 for 146 yards passing and 84 rushing) led the Eagles (2-7, 2-4) on three scoring drives in the third quarter, finishing with 230 yards of total offense and two touchdowns, including a 26-yard strike to Brandon Womac for the first score of the second half.
