Lampasas had an opportunity to upset a Class 4A program, but fell just short, losing at home to Georgetown East View 10-9 on Tuesday evening.
Despite falling behind in all but one doubles match, Lampasas held a 4-3 advantage entering singles competition.
The girls tandems of Tara Pergande and Sami McKenzie, and Carolyn Laborde and Rhiannon Wright both rallied to win in their third sets.
For the boys, Tyler Connell and JD Bynum lost the first set before forcing a third, but they could not capitalize on three match points and lost in their first match as a team.
In singles, no Lampasas boys won, but the Lady Badgers lost only one match.
“Today, we had match points to be on the winning side, but it wasn’t meant to be,” Lampasas head coach Kenneth Peiser said. “But this is what makes good teams. ... We will need this experience and (we will need to have) the answer when we get to regionals if we plan on advancing.”
