Lometa did not field a complete team, but the Hornets still managed to produce a strong showing.

Only three boys competed for Lometa at the 22nd annual Priddy Cross Country Meet at the Goldthwaite Golf Course on Monday, but two finished in the top 25.

Hornets freshman Israel Enriquez had the best showing of the trio, placing 15th overall with a time of 19 minutes, 43 seconds, while teammate Reid Moore finished the three-mile course in 20:47 to place 23rd. Despite producing an identical time as Moore, senior Ty Pauly (20:47) recorded a 32nd-place finish.

The Lady Hornets sent two runners to the meet, with sophomore Angela Arello narrowly edging out teammate Maclinta Alaniz by less than 10 seconds.

Arello finished 42nd with a time of 15:53, while Alaniz’s time of 16:02 placed her 44th overall.

“The whole group ran well, and I was very proud of them today,” Lometa head coach David Fisher said.

Lometa competes next at its district meet hosted by Round Top-Carmine on Oct. 23.
