MIDDLE SCHOOL ROUNDUP: Gonzales leads 8A KaRoos in 31-0 victory

Hezekiah Gonzales scored three touchdowns and added three extra-point kicks Tuesday to lead the Rancier eighth-grade A-team KaRoos to a 31-0 victory over the Audie Murphy Falcons.

Marcus Clater added a touchdown and extra point. J.J Jasmin was 7-of-9 passing for 75 yards. Other offensive standouts for Rancier were linemen Mickel Poyneer, Jericho Garcia, Matthew Box, Danniel Williams, Jelonte Meeks and Devon Foster did a great job of blocking.

D’Andre Marquez, Brendon Dickerson, Brock McKiver, Ovosai Brandon, Gabriel Brown and Xavier Johnson were key contributors in the shutout.

The eighth-grade KaRoos will play their last conference game Tuesday against Manor at Leo Buckley Stadium.

LIVE OAK RIDGE 8A 22, PALO ALTO 8A 6: Quarterback Moses Ross hit Caylon Moten with a 35-yard touchdown pass for the defeated Patriots’ only points.

Moses Ross, Jordan Jimmerson, and Landon Cha were other offensive standouts for Palo Alto (1-3).

Defensive standouts were Tori Golden, Keoni Quartero and Nathaniel Nanai.

The Patriots face Liberty Hill in their season finale.

LIVE OAK RIDGE 8B 14, PALO ALTO 8B 6: At Leo Buckley Stadium, Stephan Cordice scored the defeated Patriots’ points on a 65-yard run.

Jurgen Peralta, Mi’ldris Guy and Keoni Curry were defensive standouts for Palo Alto (2-2).

PALO ALTO 7A 25, LIVE OAK RIDGE 7A 19: Ta’Veon Sevaaetasi scored four touchdowns, including the deciding score in the final 10 seconds to lead the Patriots to a victory.

Sevaaetasi also scored on a kickoff return.

Other standouts for Palo Alto were defensive linemen Nathan Loris, Daniel Leigh, Nomar Alvarez and Nehimiah Brown.

The eighth-grade Patriots host Liberty Hill in their season finale Tuesday.

VOLLEYBALL

LIBERTY HILL 8A def. PALO ALTO 8A 25-7, 25-8: Valerie Cosme served 13 points and the Lady Lions completed a perfect 5-0 run through conference play.

Other scorers for Liberty Hill were Aujunnae Smith (10 points) and Tajanaye Spiller, Ashae Murphy and Kieran Means each scored five.

AUDIE MURPHY 8A DEF. NOLAN 8A 25-19, 25-19: Jamaire Figueroa led the defeated Lady Mustangs with eight points. Alia Vines finished with five.

Other Nolan standouts were Abbie James, Kacey Dunn and Destiny Holt.

UNION GROVE 8A DEF. LIVE OAK RIDGE 8A 25-10, 25-13: Selicia Field served 16 points in the Grizzlies’ victory.

Other scorers for Union Grove (7-3, 2-2 conference) were Sheila Borders (three points), Hayley Sortman, Rebecca Kennedy, Symone Thomas and Teyrra Goodrich (two each) and Jalena Elzie and Gabby Woods (one each).

Jaylyn Capito, Kiara Tuncap, Jadienne Reese and Arianna Perry also contributed to the victory.

BURNET 8A DEF. COVE JUNIOR HIGH 8A 25-12, 25-23: Daysha Barnes had six kills and three blocks for the defeated Lady Bullpups. Kaylee Welch had two kills and a nine-point serving streak.

COVE JUNIOR HIGH 8A DEF. TEMPLE BONHAM 8A 19-25, 25-20, 25-16: Addie Cook had great sets, Kaylee Welch had two solo blocks and four kills, and Mckenna Miller had outstanding passes and three aces in the Lady Bullpups victory.

Melasha Hall earned player of the game honors.

The Cove Junior High teams host Belton Middle School on Monday and it will be Parent Night.

S.C. LEE 8A DEF. TEMPLE LAMAR 8A 25-21, 12-25, 25-17: Talia Kinslow helped the Lady Cougars outlast Lamar for a victory.

LIBERTY HILL 8B DEF. PALO ALTO 8B 20-7, 25-6: Mallory Kreie served 11 points and Lady Lions finished undefeated in conference play, finishing 5-0.

Eastlin Jefferson and Jana Fairley each had 10 points for Liberty Hill. Jaelynn Rhodes finished with five.

NOLAN 8B def. AUDIE MURPHY 8B 25-14, 25-12: Katrina McMillin served 11 points to help the Lady Mustangs capture the conference championship and finish the season 5-0.

Other scorers for Nolan were Maria Vielma (seven points), Arlene Aguinaga with (six), Nautika Harrison (three), Shamira Peters (two) and Mariah Johns (one). Jasmine Standford and Jalia Bullock were standout passers.

UNION GROVE 8B DEF. LIVE OAK RIDGE 8B 25-9, 25-11: At Union Grove, Amiya Burns served 13 points to lead the Grizzlies to a victory in their season finale.

Other scorers for Union Grove (4-4, 2-2 conference) were Paxton O’Fallon (nine points), Maritza Jones (five), Hailey Woodard and Cassie Bomar (three each), Dominique Smith (two) and Kayla Hansen (one).

Other contributors to the win were Kylie Sticca, Jana Mughawish, Santana Espinoza, Amanda Hummel, Marlina Isley, Kristen Cavazos, Alexus Shipp and Caitlin Gillespie.

BURNET 8B DEF. COVE JUNIOR HIGH 8B 25-6, 25-16: Olivia Rios was named player of the game for the defeated Lady Bullpups with her positive attitude and outstanding defense.

TEMPLE LAMAR 8B DEF. S.C. LEE 8B 25-27, 25-21, 25-16: Dianna Lewis was the standout player for the defeated Lady Cougars.

Cove Junior High 8B def. Temple Bonham 8B 25-19, 25-18: Sierra Cochran had two blocks and four hard hits to lead the Lady Bullpups to a victory.

LIVE OAK RIDGE 7A DEF. UNION GROVE 7A 14-25, 25-20, 25-20: Elizabeth Iosefo served eight points to lead the defeated Grizzlies.

Other scorers for Union Grove were Layla Yerry and Sophie Young (seven points each), Jada Dye (four), Bailey Bodkin (two) and Mya Taylor and Faith Miller (one each).

NOLAN 7A DEF. AUDIE MURPHY 7A 29-27, 25-13: Sarana Tuia served 14 points to lead the Lady Mustangs to a win and a second-place finish in the North Conference.

Other standouts for Nolan were Brooke Poyser, Alicia Crane, Alicia Brister, Tyneshia Thomas, Vivian Ortiz, Kiara Soria and Caitlin Short.

S.C. LEE 7A def. TEMPLE LAMAR 7A 25-12, 25-12: Teresa Sherman led the Lady Cougars to a victory.

COVE JUNIOR HIGH 7A def. BURNET 7A 25-17, 25-9: Kamryn Ash served 13 consecutive points to jumpstart the Lady Bullpups after a sluggish start.

COVE JUNIOR HIGH 7A def. TEMPLE BONHAM 7A 25-11, 25-16: Raejon Allen had four aces and shined with her back-row defense to help the Lady Bullpups improve to 5-0 in district play.

Cove finished with 16 aces and 15 kills.

LIVE OAK RIDGE 7B 13, PALO ALTO 7B 0: Kristian Dotson and Raquell Lafleur played well defensively for the defeated Patriots.

Quarterback Gregory Cook and receiver Khalil Warner were offensive standouts for Palo Alto.

UNION GROVE 7B DEF. LIVE OAK RIDGE 7B 25-14, 25-21: Brittany Bombardier served nine points and the Grizzlies won to finish conference play with a 3-1 mark.

Other scorers for Union Grove were Taylor Wells (six points), Trinity Moore, Sydney Unger and Tierra Gray Thomas (three each), Alana Sheppard (two points) and Aliyah Tharpe, Selena Crusoe and Olivia Winder (one each).

BUENET 7B DEF. COVE JUNIOR HIGH 7B 25-12, 25-17: The player of the game for the defeated Lady Bullpups was Mackenzie Hammond.

S.C. LEE 7B DEF. TEMPLE LAMAR 7B 25-15, 25-5: Dakota Penn was the player of the game for the winning Lady Cougars.

COVE JUNIOR HIGH DEF. TEMPLE BONHAM 7B 25-9, 25-13: Nadia Robinson was the player of the game for her positive attitude and consecutive serves in the Lady Bullpups victory.

AUDIE MURPHY 7B DEF. NOLAN 7B: Rhonda Ellis Tinsley and Izzy Graham were the top servers for the defeated Lady Mustangs.

Joceline Ballesteros and Asjanee Boykins played well at the net. Destiny Bond played a good game in the back row.
