Claim to Fame:Kramer is a captain for the Lady Tigers, who have rebounded from a poor season a year ago to go 14-6 so far in 2012. Kramer has switched from her position as the team’s setter to doing a little bit of everything, playing the back row, setting and at outside hitter.
This season has gotten off to a lot better start than last year, how do you feel about the turnaround?
“I feel really great about it and I am really proud that we have pushed through everything we have gone through to do really well.”
What has first-year coach Stacy Meyers brought to the program?
“She is really intense and she focuses on what we can do and how good we are, which pushes us to do better on our own and workout hard and push harder.”
What difference have you seen in the team?
“We have a lot more chemistry. We are swinging harder and we are smarter. Everything we do is different. We have a completely new defense that works really well for us.”
Your role changed this year. Do you enjoy playing different positions?
“I love it because I love everything in volleyball ..., and I love being a team player, which is really what I am doing this year.”
What is the most played song on your iPod right now?
“Probably Taylor Swift’s ‘We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together.’ That is probably it. I really love Taylor Swift and Justin Beiber ... I am a Beiber fan.”
What is the last movie you saw and did you like it?
“It was ‘The Lorax.’ I rented it because it just came out on DVD and I loved it. I am a big cartoon fan.”
What is your favorite cartoon and cartoon character?
“I like Phineas and Ferb ... I like Perry (the Platypus).”
What would people be surprised to find out about you?
“I actually love math. If I wasn’t playing volleyball, I would probably be in a match club. I love it. I am going to be a mechanical engineer and I am starting at (Texas) A&M in January.”
What is it like knowing you will graduate before you classmates?
“It is kind of sad, but at the same time I am ready to go to college and start new. Volleyball is all I wanted in high school and now I will be going and doing what I love — math — in college. ... I thought about (graduating early) for a long time, but I decided it was what was best. I am going to come back and walk and I am pretty sure I am going to come back for prom.”
You come form a big family, what was that like?
“I have three older brothers and an older sister and I am the youngest. (I got picked on) but it was all fun and games because I picked on them back. Growing up in a big family is amazing and it makes me want to have a big family when I grow up. It teaches you everything in life growing up like that.”
