“I started playing basketball in sixth-grade. I always wanted to be the athlete my brother (Michael Gutierrez) was and basketball was my favorite sport. He was the star athlete and thought I can be the star too, but that has not been the case.”
What does this team have to do to keep its current hot streak going?
“I think we really need to focus on our defense and continue to work as a team. If we do that there is no doubt we can make it to the playoffs.”
How did you choose your number (21)?
“When I was in eighth-grade, I looked up to Megan Alexander. She was a really good post and I told her ‘When you graduate I am going to get your number.’ The next year, when I was a freshman on varsity, I got the number.”

What is your favorite drink then?
“It is probably sweet tea.”
