Football: Killeen v. Vandegrift
Killeen's Daniel McCants eyes Leander Vandegrift's Austin Crawford as he runs in for a touchdown in the second quarter of the game Friday night at Leo Buckley Stadium.
- Killeen (0-2) at Stony Point (2-1)
When: 7 p.m. today
Where: Reeves Stadium (Austin)
The Scoop: Expect a heavy-artillery affair between these two squads. Last year, the Roos eeked out a 42-41 nailbiter at Leo Buckley Stadium after the Tigers gunned a hail Mary touchdown and were stuffed on a two-point conversion attempt in the final seconds. Killeen had two weeks to prepare for a Tiger team that put up 48.3 and allowed 38.3 points a game against three District 8-5A opponents this year. The Roos moved the ball well in a 36-29 loss to Leander Vandegrift two weeks ago, as Daniel McCants rushed for 182 yards on 32 carries. Last year, McCants and quarterback Garrett Gaskamp pounded Stony Point for 261 combined rushing yards.
