Tied at 2-2 at halftime, Harker Heights coach Jared Cruddas knew his Knights needed more goals — a lot more — if they were going to secure a spot in the semifinals of their own soccer tournament.

Ask and ye shall receive.

Knights forward Austin Russell provided a second-half hat trick and finished with four goals as host Heights blasted Robinson for five second-half goals in a 7-2 victory to claim first place through the second day of the second-annual Harker Heights soccer tournament on Friday at Leo Buckley Stadium.

The Knights (6-1-1) advanced to a semifinal date with District 8-5A rival Killeen at 11 a.m. today for a shot at the tournament championship. Taking a key from Russell, junior Austin Roden added two goals and two assists and senior brother Ethan Roden capped the game with one of each.
