SALADO — Four separate Eagles contributed at least eight points and the Salado boys basketball team went on to beat Mexia 53-40 on Saturday.

Salado outscored Mexia 15-2 in the second quarter to pull ahead after a trailing throughout the opening frame.

Dane Hankamer led with 12 points while Austin Adams and Brandon Womac each had nine points and Kyle Heiner added eight points.

Salado (2-0) managed to stretch its lead to double figures with a 20-10 fourth-quarter effort as the Eagles hit 11 of 17 from the free throw line.
