SALADO — Meagan Hill doubled, tripled and drove in three runs as Salado routed Little River-Academy 11-1 in five innings Saturday.
Salado hurler Morgan Hill allowed just one hit, a leadoff single in the second that, aided by a passed ball, turned into the Lady Bees’ lone run and their only lead.
It didn’t last long as the Lady Eagles answered with seven runs in the bottom of the frame.
Meagan Hill, who opened the inning with a triple, capped the seven-run outburst with a bases-loaded double. She was the sixth straight Lady Eagle to reach base after a single and four walks.
Morgan Hill allowed only two other baserunners, both on walks.
Lady Buffs edge Rosebud-Lott
FLORENCE — Madison Hill went 3 for 3 and the Lady Buffs used a five-run bottom of the third to beat Rosebud-Lott 9-8 on Saturday to pick up another District 22-2A win.
Florence’s Emily Gray went 3 for 4 while Brittany Ramirez had three RBIs and two doubles.
The Lady Buffs (7-7, 2-4) go for another district win on Tuesday when they travel to Jarrell.
Fuerte leads playoff-bound Ellison boys to 2-0 win over Killeen
Alex Fuerte scored both Ellison goals in a 2-0 home win over the Killeen Kangaroos on Friday.
Fuerte’s scores came in the 16th and 25th minutes and were assisted by William Barbrow and Richard Gamblin.
Ellison has clinched fourth place in District 8-5A and will play District 7-5A champion Duncanville in the first round of the playoffs.
Big innings send Midway baseballers past Killeen
Rene Ramirez went 1 for 2 with a double, but the Killeen Kangaroos fell to Waco Midway 10-0 in five innings on Friday at Killeen High School.
The Roos (3-11-2, 0-4 District 8-5A) couldn’t overcome the big inning as Midway put up six runs in the top of the second and four runs in the top of the fourth.
Roos leadoff hitter Adrian Spencer went 1 for 3 and Doug Bell went 1 for 2.
Killeen looks to bounce back on Tuesday when it visits Belton.
Cru baseballers fall 8-6 to Ozarks
BELTON — The University of the Ozarks baseball team erupted for seven runs in the top of the eighth inning to rally for an 8-6 win over Mary Hardin-Baylor on Saturday.
The Cru (15-4, 12-3 American Southwest) used five pitchers in the game, threw four wild pitches, hit two batters and committed five errors.
UMHB seemed to take control of the game with four runs in the bottom of the sixth. Chase Burrow singled home the first run and Hill added an RBI fielder’s choice. Will Stafford singled home the final two runs to make it 5-1 Cru.
UMHB pushed it to 6-1 on Burrow’s RBI double in the bottom of the seventh.
UMHB softball completes sweep of UT-Dallas
RICHARDSON — Rebekah Ragsdale tossed a two-hitter and the Mary Hardin-Baylor softball shut out Texas-Dallas 8-0 Saturday.
Chandler Henson gave Ragsdale and the Cru (11-10, 9-9 American Southwest) an early advantage with a two-run double in the top of the second. Leah Brown hit a two-run single later in the inning, giving UMHB a 5-0 advantage.
