The Belton Lady Tigers built a four-goal halftime lead and cruised to a 4-0 home victory over Killeen that could have been more lopsided Friday night.

“We have three players who haven’t scored for us yet. One of them is hurt and the others are a defender and a backup goalkeeper,” Belton coach Wendy Knight said. “We used the second half to try to get those two girls a goal. That was our entire intention in the second half.”

Ashley Winkler, Jamie Brown, Madi Goldston and Aubrey Martinez had goals for the Lady Tigers (12-4, 6-0 District 8-5A), who got three assists from Jamie Boone and one from Martinez. Goalie Courtney Dipple didn’t face a shot.

Next up for Belton is a road match Tuesday night at Shoemaker.

Killeen goalkeeper Martha Conde had 16 saves and defender Angelina Arreaga and midfielder McKenzie Jones played well for the Lady Roos (1-8-4, 1-5), who host Ellison on Tuesday.
