Alex Perkins led three China Spring players in double figures with 14 points and the Lady Cougars rallied from a 15-point halftime deficit for a 58-55 win Wednesday at Gatesville.

The comeback marred a dazzling shooting exhibition by the Hornets’ Rebekah Holte, who made all of Gatesville eight 3-pointers and scored 29 points. She made a 3 in every quarter.

China Spring, which began the day in a first-place tie with Lorena in 17-4A, improved to 6-1 in league play.

Allaira Jones added 12 points for the Hornets, who fell to 4-3 in 17-4A play.

SALADO BOYS 48, LLANO 45: At Salado, Jeremy Jarvis scored 11 points and the Eagles held on after leading by 10 at halftime.

The Eagles maintained at least a share of third place in 19-4A with the win. They are 3-2 in league play.

Anthony Young and Shane Roche each added nine points for Salado, which entered the day tied with Leander Glenn. Sammy Brown had eight points.

Llano fell to 1-5 in league play.

LAMPASAS BOYS 71, TAYLOR 54: At Taylor, Austin Martin matched his season high with 25 points to lead the Badgers to a win on the road.

Martin was 10-of-10 at the foul line.

The Badgers (18-8, 2-3 19-4A) saw an 18-point third-quarter lead cut to five in the same period, but Kyle Sims’ return in the final quarter from a back injury earlier in the game helped Lampasas hold off the threat.

Belton senior William Paysse, who will play next season at nearby Texas A&M, carded a 73 and finished 16th.

Plano West finished at 290 for a one-stroke win over Austin Westlake.

Future Texas A&M golfer senior William Paysse add a one-over 73 for the Tigers.
