Ellison’s Casey Armour scored 15 of his game-high 35 points in a third quarter that saw the 12th-ranked Eagles take command on the way to a 75-63 win over Killeen on Tuesday at Ellison.

The teams were tied at 26 at halftime, but Armour helped the Eagles (22-2, 4-0 8-6A) surge to a 14-point lead entering the final period.

Armour made four of Ellison’s 3-pointers. He is averaging nearly 27 points per game in district play.

Chandler Sutton made three 3s and added 13 points for the Eagles.

Montego Muckelvaney led Killeen (2-2 8-6A) with 24 points. Cortez Ivie added 20.

BELTON 64, SAN ANGELO CENTRAL 51: Kiron Griffin Jr. scored 16 points, Jordan Ellis and Dontori Lott each added 15, and the Tigers (12-11, 1-3 8-6A) won on the road, leaving the Bobcats as the league's last remaining winless team.

Central played without head coach Dustin Faught. The San Angelo Standard-Times reported that Fraught was placed on paid administrative leave following an unspecified weekend incident.

Duriell Taylor led the Bobcats (7-15, 0-4) with 24 points.

SALADO 64, TAYLOR 45: Eli Pittman knocked down three 3-pointers and scored 10 points to lead the Eagles to a home victory.

Shane Roche added nine points, and four other players each had eight for Salado (2-2 19-4A). The Eagles led 27-22 at halftime and steadily pulled away from there.

Taylor dropped to 0-3 in league play.

Philen leads Salado girls past Taylor 41-32

Salado’s Kaia Philen scored 14 points and the Lady Eagles scored 26 points off 39 Taylor turnovers in a 41-32 home victory Tuesday.

Philen had six of Salado’s 14 steals.

Lexie Lima added nine points for Salado, which improved to 3-2 in District 19-4A play.

Taylor (0-4 in 19-4A) led 16-12 at halftime, but the Lady Ducks were outscored 20-2 in the third quarter.

LORENA 36, GATESVILLE 29: Michelle Runyan scored seven of her team-high nine points in the second half as the Lady Leopards leapfrogged Gatesville into second place in District 17-4A.

Gatesville's Rebekah Nolte led all scorers with 10 points. The Hornets (4-2 17-4A) led 14-12 at intermission.

Lorena improved to 4-1.

Din’s 2 PKs lead Killeen soccer girls past China Spring 2-1

Lauren Din converted two penalty kicks — one in each half — and the Killeen girls soccer team edged China Spring 2-1 on Tuesday at home.

Leanna Johnson received the Game ball for great play. Also contributing for the Lady Roos were midfielders Alyssa Cabading and Brianna Lemonier, defenders Malaeeli IIaoa and Amira Lambetis and forward Mayra Ortega.

MONDAY: Chace named Player of the Year at Cove volleyball banquet

Aidan Chace was named Player of the Year at the Copperas Cove High School volleyball team banquet on Monday night at the Copperas Cove Civic Center.

Chace, a junior, earned the award based on voting by her teammates.

Other awards went to junior Kristen Wasiak (Defensive Player of the Year), sophomore Leah Powell (top server), junior Aviyon Wilborn (top receiver), senior Talia Kinslow (top hitter), junior Christina Pettigrew (top blocker), junior Kamryn Ash (top setter) and Janice Fa’aola (Sophomore of the Year).

MONDAY: Salado soccer girls win 4-0 at Marble Falls

Allison Carnahan, Ashlen LaCanne, Ashley Voelter and Grace Graham each scored a goal and the Salado girls soccer team won 4-0 on Monday night at Marble Falls.

Hannah Reavis had two assists and Reagan Morreale had one. Lauren Wilson and Avery Wright split time in goal for shutout.
