The Heart of Texas Fellowship of Christian Athletes announced the rosters for its summer Victory Bowl high school all-star games on Monday.
Representing the Red Team in football are Belton’s Javon Chambers and John Harvey, Copperas Cove’s Tyson Curry and Blair Fraser, Gatesville’s Bailey Adair and Sam Jackson, Harker Heights’ Travis Simpson and Shoemaker’s Maceo Branch.
Blue Team footballers include Killeen High’s Tyler Kanaly, Jamaal King and Hector Velazquez, Lampasas’ Brogan Wykes and Salado’s Tate Hill.
Local baseballers picked were Salado’s Cullen McKinney (Blue), Belton’s Tyler Kastner (Red), Ellison’s Garet Douglas (Red), Gatesville’s Peyton Bates (Red) and Harker Heights’ Jacob Mitchell (Red).
Copperas Cove’s Madison Wasiak and Chyanne Chapman will join Gatesville’s Kate Lovejoy on the Red volleyball team.
Florence’s Emily Gray and Lampasas’ Kloe Corbin are on the Blue softball team. Belton’s Meredith Lusby and Ellison’s Madison Livers and Anna Hontz are on the Red squad.
Copperas Cove’s Kamryn Mayberry was picked for the Red cheer squad. Killeen’s Kristina McCormack is on the Blue side.
The baseball and softball games will be played June 9 at Mary Hardin-Baylor. The volleyball and football games will be played the following day in Waco.
Belton boys golf places third in Bastrop tournament
The Belton boys golf team finished third Saturday in the 79th annual Dodson-Evans Memorial tournament in Bastrop.
The defending champion Tigers finished with a two-day total of 649, six shots behind runner-up Round Rock. Lake Travis won the tourney with a score of 632.
The first round was played Friday at Wolfdancer Golf Club in Cedar Creek. Saturday’s play moved to ColoVista Golf Club in Bastrop.
Trent Tepera led Belton with a score of 155 (80-75), good for fifth-place individually. William Paysse also finished in the top 10 with two rounds of 79. He tied for ninth.
Round Rock Westwood’s Rishi Kejriwal carded two rounds of 73 for a five-shot victory.
