Jaci McGregor won her third straight cross country race, winning the Gatesville Bill Bradley Invitational meet Thursday with a time of 12 minutes, 20 seconds.

The Lady Eagles placed two others in the top 10 and won the team championship with 54 points while competing with district rivals Lampasas, Burnet and Taylor.

Other Salado runners were Catalina Langlitz (seventh, 13:54), Reginia Deen (eighth, 13:56), Samantha Vargas (15th, 13:59), Taylor Rich (25th, 14:24), Natalie McBryde (37th, 14:47) and Kimberly Kendall (43rd, 15:03).

The Salado boys placed third in the meet. Hunter Haas led the Eagles with a third-place showing. Other Salado runners were Logan Rickey (17th), Horacio Huerta (23rd), Trey Graham (48th), Seth Neal (56th), Ryan Trenholm (59th) and Chris Ortiz (60th).

The Eagles are hosting their next meet Thursday at Tenroc Ranch.

Cove sweeps Belton in v-ball

The Copperas Cove volleyball team kept its record perfect in District 8-6A with a 25-23, 25-14, 25-22 road win at Belton on Friday.

Kelsey Surovik led Belton (1-1 8-6A) with seven kills. Elicia Jackson had six kills and three blocks. Jamie Janczak had six kills and 11 digs. Hanna Griffin added five kills and four blocks. Emily Holder finished with 14 assists, four kills and three digs.

Copperas Cove improved to 3-0 in 8-6A play.

Salado volleyball falls to Glenn

The Leander Glenn volleyball team outlasted Salado in five sets Friday, winning 25-18, 21-25, 15-25, 25-18, 15-13.

Landry Rogers had 17 kills, 18 digs and six aces to lead Salado (17-9, 2-1 19-4A). Katie Robinson added 13 kills, five aces and 14 digs. Reagan Morreale led Salado with 22 assists and added three kills. Kaia Philen had three kills and two blocks. Brettney Fuller finished with 16 assists and two aces.

Lady Knights get first 8-6A volleyball win

Aliyah Lockett had 10 kills to help lead the Harker Heights volleyball team to a 20-25, 25-18, 25-19, 25-18 win over Killeen on Friday.

With the win, the Knights evened their District 8-6A record at 1-1.

Sorcha Dunn added eight kills for the Lady Knights. Samantha Dreibrlbis had seven. Selicia Fields led Heights with 20 assists and five aces. McKayla Flowers tallied five blocks. Valeria Cosme had 20 digs. Jaylyn Capito finished with 13 digs. Sheila Borders recorded 16 assists.

Killeen fell to 0-3 in 8-6A play.
