Temple golfer William Paysse finished in a tie for 10th place Thursday in the Byron Nelson Junior Championship at Lakewood Country Club in Dallas.

Paysse, who just completed his junior year at Belton High School, was two shots off the lead when the final round began after posting consecutive rounds of 71, but he faded with a 78 on Thursday.

Second-round leader Luke Dossey, a 2019 Baylor commit from Austin Vandegrift High School, shot the low round of the day, a 69, to hold off 2018 Texas A&M pledge Sam Bennett of Madisonville for a two-stroke victory and join PGA Tour winners Jordan Spieth and Cody Gribble as champions of the prestigious event.

Paysse is set to compete in next month’s U.S. Junior Amateur at Flint Hills National Golf Club in Andover, Kan.
