Gatesville's Savannah Ford set a regional record Saturday in Del Valle on the way to earning her third straight trip to the state powerlifting meet.

Ford earned the silver medal in the 259-pound division, aided by a record 380-pound deadlift. She also squatted 380 and bench pressed 225 for a three-lift total of 985 pounds.

Two other Hornet lifters also finished second and qualified for the state meet.

Kylie Rystad was the silver medalist in the 114-pound division with a total of 630 pounds (250 squat, 130 bench, 250 deadlift). Alayna Washington placed second in the 123 division. Her three-lift total was 710: 265 squat, 145 bench, 300 deadlift.

As a team, the Hornets finished eighth in the 26-team field.

The Texas High School Women's Powerlifting Association state meet is set for March 15 in Waco.

Preston Rozner was 2 for 4 with a double and scored twice. Ben Jones and Jonathan Montgomery each went 1 for 3 with an RBI.

Belton returns to District 12-6A play Tuesday at Killeen High.
