Jayda Carter had an RBI triple, and Alina Salazar drove in a run with a double as the Copperas Cove Lady Dawgs beat Shoemaker 10-6 on the road Monday.
Starter Brooke Schmidt pitched into the sixth inning for the win. Taylor Martin earned the save.
Copperas Cove (2-2 8-6A) moved into a fourth-place tie with the Lady Wolves.
Cove returns to action today at 2 p.m. at Harker Heights. Shoemaker travels to Waco Midway on Friday.
SALADO 10, BURNET 0, 5 INN.: At Salado, Ryley Orborski and Christin Wilson each went 3 for 3 with three RBIs as the Lady Eagles rolled to their third straight win to start 19-4A play.
The top six hitters in Salado's lineup went a combined 13 for 17 (.785). And No. 9 hitter Elizabeth Ford was 1 for 2 with a triple and RBI. Oborski and Breigh Oliver each hit two doubles. Piper Randolph went 2 for 3 and stole three bases.
Rebecca Dockray tossed a three-hit shutout with eight strikeouts and no walks.
The Lady Eagles scored in every inning, capped by a four-run fourth that brought the 10-run mercy rule into play when Burnet failed to score in the top of the fifth.
NO. 23 WACO MIDWAY 7, NO. 13 BELTON 6: At Waco, the Lady Tigers nearly pulled off a remarkable comeback in this heavyweight matchup after trailing 7-0 through five innings.
Belton scored four runs in the sixth and two more with two outs in the seventh before the Pantherettes got a strikeout with the bases loaded to end the game.
Freshman Jenna Rowatt socked a two-run double in the first, and Sophie Wideman belted a three-run homer in the second as Midway quickly grabbed a 5-0 lead.
Belton finally got on the board in the top of the sixth on a two-run homer by Caleigh Robinson.
In the seventh, the Lady Tigers loaded the bases with two out. They were down to their last strike when Izzy Gutierrez singled on a 2-2 pitch to bring two more runs in. Harley Staton followed and was hit by a pitch to move the tying run to third base and reload the bases.
