Led by all-tournament team selections safety TJ Gift, receiver Anthony Brown and quarterback Cameron Davis, the host Belton High School 7-on-7 team finished as the runner-up in the Lone Star Shootout on Saturday in Belton.

Temple beat Belton 49-42 in the championship game.

Twenty teams participated in the two-day event, which began with pool play on Friday. Area teams participating included Ellison, Copperas Cove, Salado and Shoemaker.

The Grey Wolves won the consolation championship with a 32-23 win over Georgetown. Shoemaker receiver Clyde Williams and defensive back James Parker were also among 14 selected to the all-tourney team.

Pool C champ Salado was eliminated in the consolation semifinals 44-37 by Georgetown.
