Tyler Quarles scored a career-high 16 points and the Lampasas Badgers cruised to a 67-38 home win over Llano on Tuesday in their District 19-4A opener.

The Badgers (13-5) led 38-17 at halftime.

"We played with the most energy we've had all season," Lampasas coach Aaron Nuckles said.

Quarles hit three of the Badgers' four 3-pointers and added four rebounds. Xavier Nix added 13 points and four rebounds. Kyle Sims finished with 10 points, eight rebounds, four assists and three steals. Kolbe Penick had nine points, seven rebounds, four assists and three steals.

Cooper Owens led Llano (4-10) with 11 points.

It was the Badgers' second win over Llano this season. They won 45-33 on Dec. 8 when the teams met in the Hamilton tournament. Quarles led Lampasas with 14 points in that game.

The Badgers begin their holiday break and return to action Dec. 28 at the Brownwood tournament.

SALADO 68, LEANDER GLENN 57: Anthony Young and Jeremy Jarvis each scored 16 points and the Eagles won their District 19-4A opener on the road.

Twelve of the 15 Salado players who saw action scored.

Salado trailed 17-16 after the opening quarter, but took control in the second and led 39-30 at the break.

MANOR 62, BELTON 60: The Tigers came up on the short end of a nondistrict road game.

Dontori Lott led Belton with 23 points. Kiron Griffin Jr. added 12 for the Tigers (9-7).

GIRLS

SAN ANGELO CENTRAL 40, HARKER HEIGHTS 38: The Lady Cats scored on a layup just before the buzzer to cap a thrilling finish in San Angelo.

Only seconds earlier, the Lady Knights had tied the game with a 3-pointer.

Heights (1-3 District 8-6A) led 23-19 after three quarters. The Lady Knights were led by Brielle Dorsey's eight points.

Missed free throws proved costly. Heights converted just 14 of 28 at the stripe.

Cadye Nelms led Central (13-8, 2-2) with 13 points.

LEANDER GLENN 48, SALADO 40: The Lady Grizzlies dominated on the glass and at the free-throw line for a home District 19-4A victory against Salado.

Kaia Philen led Salado with 16 points. Kayla Manning added 11.

Glenn outrebounded Salado 44-29, including 20-10 on the offensive glass, leading to an 11-4 edge in second-chance points. The Lady Grizzlies also took advantage of 31 free throws and outscored Salado 15-7 at the stripe.
