Potentially severe weather wrecked havoc on today’s area sports schedules.
In anticipation of possibly dangerous travel conditions, teams across the state postponed games until Wednesday, including all District 8-6A programs.
With announcement of Killeen ISD closing for the day, Killeen, Ellison, Shoemaker and Harker Heights each pushed their boys and girls games to Wednesday. Copperas Cove, Belton and Waco Midway will not be competing today either.
Assuming the weather cooperates, games will be played at the originally scheduled times Wednesday. Most varsity games will begin at 7 p.m.
For the boys, the Bulldawgs were set to play at Belton, the No. 13 Eagles were traveling to Waco Midway, Killeen was hosting Harker Heights and Shoemaker was going to play at San Angelo Central.
For the girls, today’s game were scheduled to include No. 19 Midway at No. 8 Ellison, Killeen at Harker Heights, Central at Shoemaker and Belton at No. 21. Copperas Cove.
Additionally, Lampasas ISD either postponed or cancelled all of its athletic events for today. The Badgers’ and Lady Badgers’ road basketball games were moved to Wednesday, while the boys’ home soccer match against Salado and the girls’ road soccer match at Waco were cancelled.
Gatesville ISD, Florence ISD and Salado ISD also cancelled all events for today.
The Hornets will play their home basketball games against China Spring on Wednesday. The girls will play at 6 p.m. with the boys following.
Lampasas will play at Taylor on Wednesday with the girls starting at 5 p.m. and the boys following at 6:30 p.m.
Gatesville's girls home soccer match against Academy was cancelled.
Along with games being rescheduled or removed, all athletic practices are also cancelled today.
