Copperas Cove’s Drew Dewald shot a final-round 3-under 69 to finish in fourth place Sunday in the Texas Golf Association North Amateur.

Dewald, who will be a senior on the West Virginia University golf team in the fall, got better each day, with rounds of 71 and 70 preceding his 69 at Timarron Golf Club in Southlake.

He finished one stroke out of third place, which would have earned him an exemption into next year’s Texas Amateur.

Dewald was four strokes behind winner Max Kettler of Southlake who won a two-hole playoff. The final-round scoring average was 77.
