LATE MONDAY GIRLS
BRYAN RUDDER 71, HARKER HEIGHTS 52: At Bryan, Harker Heights hung with Rudder for three quarters in a nondistrict contest, but the Lady Rangers pulled away with a 17-8 fourth quarter.
Senior Dakota Smith led the Lady Knights (3-4) with 17 points, followed by fellow senior Sheanne Ellis-Clayton with 12 and Shae Richardson with six.
“Collectively, I didn’t think we played very well,” Heights head coach Shirretha Nelson said. “It was close early on and we had an opportunity to capitalize, but we never did. We simply got outrebounded and made some fundamental mistakes with the ball that made the difference.”
Heights is scheduled to resume play Tuesday in Fort Worth against Class 5A No. 20-ranked Dunbar at 6:30 p.m.
