Copperas Cove improved to 7-0-1 for the season after collecting a victory and tie at the Austin ISD tournament.

In the Bulldawgs’ opener Friday, they defeated Laredo United 6-4 behind Tyler Ingram’s two-run home run and his two-hit showing on the mound.

Colby Jost picked up the pitching victory for the Bulldawgs, striking out five batters.

Copperas Cove followed the performance with a 2-2 tie against Austin Hyde Park, scoring in the top of the seventh inning to create the deadlock.

The Bulldawgs conclude play at the tournament today, facing Eagle Pass at 9:30 a.m. and Georgetown East View at 2:30 p.m.

Lampasas upsets No. 2 Wall

After going 2-0 to open the Llano tournament Thursday, Lampasas remained undefeated with a 10-3 win against Class 3A No. 2 Wall.

With the victory, the Badgers improve to 5-1 for the season.


Playing in the Gatesville softball tournament, Copperas Cove fell to Temple 11-3 and lost to Lampasas 8-7.

The Lady Bulldawgs return to the field today for games against Cameron Yoe (2 p.m.) and Florence (5:30 p.m.).
