Top-ranked Liberty Hill limited the sixth-ranked Lady Eagles to three hits in a 7-0 District 19-4A victory Tuesday in Salado.

For Salado, Piper Randolph, Breigh Oliver and Rebecca Dockray each went 1 for 3 at the plate.

The Lady Panthers scored five runs in the third inning and two in the fourth.

The Lady Eagles are slated to face Taylor on the road Friday at 6 p.m.


NO. 14 FLORENCE 15, GEORGETOWN GATEWAY 0, 3 INN.: At Florence, the 14th-ranked Lady Buffaloes scored seven runs in the second inning and eight in the third to defeat Georgetown Gateway in three innings for their fourth straight shutout in District 25-3A play.

China Galvan had two hits for Florence (7-5-1, 4-0 25-3A), including a two-run home run. Juana Macedo tallied two triples and an RBI, and Madison Hill collected a triple and three RBIs.

Bailey Owens also registered two hits, including a double, to accompany her three RBIs.

Lainey Stone got the win in the circle, allowing just one hit and walking three while striking out four.

The Lady Buffaloes return to action Friday at Comfort at 6 p.m.


KILLEEN 8, COPPERAS COVE 2: At Killeen, the Lady Roos trailed Copperas Cove 1-0 after five innings, but plated eight runs in the home half of the frame and defeated the Lady Bulldawgs.

Tanjala Smith was 3 for 4 for Killeen with a home run, three RBIs and two runs scored. Shaylynn Murk went 2 for 3 at the plate with a run scored, and Hailey Pitts was 1 for 2 with an RBI and a run scored.

For Copperas Cove, Kristen Wasiak was 3 for 4 with an RBI, and Elana Montanez was 1 for 3 with a double and a walk.

The Lady Kangaroos (5-6, 2-4 8-6A) are scheduled to host Harker Heights on Friday at 7 p.m., and the Lady Bulldawgs (12-7, 4-2) will face Belton on the road Friday at 7.


WACO MIDWAY 12, HARKER HEIGHTS 2, 5 INN.: At Waco, the Panthers scored at least one run in each inning and defeated Harker Heights in five frames via the 10-run mercy rule.

The Panthers (11-5-1, 3-0 8-6A) plated two runs in the first inning, one in the second, one in the third, and four in both the fourth and fifth innings.

For the Knights, Daniel Cole was 1 for 3 at the plate with a run scored, Matt Smith was 1 for 2 with a double and walk, and Zane Wallace was 1 for 2 with a run scored.

Harker Heights (4-11-1, 1-2) is scheduled to return home and host Midway on Friday at 7 p.m.


COVE'S PEARSON NAMED MVP AT TEAM'S BANQUET: Copperas Cove High School basketball player Dahmir Pearson was honored as the team’s MVP on Monday at the Bulldawgs’ annual postseason awards banquet.

Quinton Ford earned Offensive MVP honors. Jyhlil was honored as the team’s top defender.

Neyland Block picked up the Newcomer Award. Jacob Carter earned the J. Rice Award for posting the team’s highest grade-point average.
