Copperas Cove and Killeen both produced perfect records during pool play at the Austin ISD Jason Landers Invitational on Thursday.

The Lady Bulldawgs defeated Kyle Lehman (25-9, 25-16), Austin Lanier (25-3, 25-12) and Lampasas (25-4, 25-5).

Aidan Chace had eight kills against Lehman, and 10 kills, three blocks and three aces against Lanier. Chace and Leah Powell each had eight blocks against Lampasas. Jada Close added four blocks. Kristen Wasiak led Cove with 30 total digs in the three matches. Kamryn Ash had 14 assists against Lehman and 19 against Lanier.

With the wins, the Lady Bulldawgs improved their overall record to 5-0.

The Lady Kangaroos earned wins against Austin Travis (25-20, 25-23), Gatesville (25-23, 25-16) and San Antonio Marshall (25-18, 25-18).

Copperas Cove is set to play Austin McCallum, Killeen and Cedar Creek today, while the Lady Kangaroos will also face Cedar Creek and McAllum.

Harker Heights is also competing in the three-day tournament.

The Lady Knights lost to Hutto 25-22, 25-21 before falling to McCallum 25-19, 25-22, but they capped off the day with a 25-15, 25-13 victory against Smithville.

Following loses to Marshall (25-16, 25-10) and Killeen, the Hornets defeated Travis 25-21, 25-19, while the Lady Badgers fell to Lanier 24-26, 25-21, 25-18 and Lehman 25-12 and 25-8 before losing to Copperas Cove.

Copperas Cove tennis beats Killeen to remain unbeaten

The Bulldawgs and Lady Bulldawgs cruised to a 17-2 victory against Killeen on Thursday thanks in part to a strong 7-0 showing in doubles competition.

In singles, Copperas Cove’s boys and girls combined to go 10-2 to complete the win. With the outcome, Copperas Cove improves to 2-0.

Copperas Cove hosts the two-day CenTex Team Tennis Tournament, beginning today.

Del Valle, San Angelo Lake View and Ellison are also competing.
