The Shoemaker Lady Grey Wolves got back on the court against Bartlett on Tuesday, but a less than ideal finish at the Austin ISD Jason Landers Invitational Tournament still lingered.
On Tuesday, they responded.
Bianca Delgado had seven kills and 12 digs while Gabriela Sierra added 14 assists to help Shoemaker earn a 3-0 road sweep over Bartlett 3-0 (25-6, 25-19, 25-10).
“They played with a lot of energy and a lot more enthusiasm and that just came with coming off the tournament and not being really happy with the results of the tournament,” Shoemaker head coach Merdith Shaw-Moore said.
The Lady Wolves (6-5) concluded the Landers Invitational by going 1-2 during the final day on Saturday, including losses to Austin and Austin Crockett. Shoemaker responded by a dominating Games 1 and 2 against Bartlett.
Sierra scored a total of 18 points, including 10 aces while Briana McCutcheon helped out the effort with six kills and three blocks. Lashayla Rider ended the game with 18 digs and four kills.
Reagan Felton helped out Shoemaker’s defensive effort with 13 digs to go along with five kills while Shadavia Blakemore had 12 digs.
“We just used a different defense from what we started with, switched a couple of people around to see how it works because that’s what you do in the preseason,” Shaw-Moore said. “I think we may have found one to work for this game.”
COPPERAS COVE DEF. RR STONY POINT 25-19, 25-10, 25-17: At Round Rock, Savannah Cook had 11 blocks and the Lady Dawgs moved to 11-1 on the season.
Mikayla Blount posted 15 assists while Katy Ranes added a dozen more. Lexi Perez had 25 digs.
Blount and Ranes each served an ace.
ROGERS DEF. LAMPASAS 26-24, 25-22, 25-20: Ashlyn Theus recorded a team-high seven kills and two blocks, but the Lady Badgers were swept at home.
