Kayla Williams made Ellison’s only 3-pointer — and her only points of the game — with 8.8 seconds remaining to send the Lady Eagles to a 51-48 road win over Class 3A-No. 1 Liberty Hill on Tuesday.
The Lady Panthers threw the ball away on their final possession.
“Our guards really just played fantastic,” Ellison coach Sherry McKinnon said.
Cielo McClain led a balanced scoring attack with 13 points for the Lady Eagles, who won their third straight to start the season. Ellison got seven points each from Marliah Johnson, Amaya Coakley and Dajia Planas, and six from Sydney Brock.

The Lady Eagles capitalized on her absence, outrebounding the Lady Panthers 25-12 and shooting 49 percent from the field.
Kandyn Faurie had 21 points for Liberty Hill.
NO. 23 GATESVILLE 52, BURNET 46: At Burnet, Allaira Jones scored 20 points and the 23rd-ranked Gatesville Hornets rebounded from a loss Friday with a win at Burnet.
Rebekah Nolte added 13 points for Gatesville (2-1), which used a 12-3 scoring edge at the foul line to take the victory.
Marissa Escamilla led Burnet (2-1) with 15 points.
SALADO 58, MCGREGOR 34: At McGregor, Kayla Manning scored 31 in the Lady Eagles' rout.
Manning was 11-of-16 from the field and 9-of-12 from the foul stripe.
Ashlen LaCanne and Kaia Philen each made a pair of 3-pointers and finished with eight points.
Salado pulled away in the second half, outscoring McGregor 35-19.
ELLISON 69, MANOR 44: At Manor, Casey Armour scored 20 points, Chandler Sutton added 18 and the Eagles won their second straight to start the season.
Shamir Bogues added 10 points for the Eagles, who led just 40-36 after the third quarter.
Freshman Augustine Arroyo led Manor with 16 points in the Mustangs’ season opener.
STEPHENVILLE 58, GATESVILLE 39: At Gatesville, Brandon Hill scored 20 points, but the Hornets lost their season opener.
Stephenville took command in the second quarter, taking a 31-16 lead at halftime.
The Hornets host Salado on Saturday.
HARKER HEIGHTS 57, CEDAR PARK VISTA RIDGE 46: At Cedar Park, Dillon Gooding had 20 points and six assists to lead the Knights to a win.
Jalyn Glover (15) and Deshawn Walker (11) also scored in double figures for the Knights. Jalen Flowers finished with six points and seven rebounds. Randy Hughes contributed four points, nine rebounds, three steals and three blocks.
The Knights' home opener is Friday against Pflugerville at 7 p.m.
