Casey Armour tossed in 26 points for the second day in a row and the Ellison boys basketball team increased its season-opening winning streak to five with a 53-42 win Tuesday at Waco University.

The Eagles fell into a 12-7 hole after one quarter, but regrouped for a 22-17 halftime lead.

Kadarius Green had eight points for Ellison. Chandler Sutton added six on a pair of 3-pointers.

Wilson Boggess led University (0-3) with 13 points.

Ellison returns to action Tuesday at Austin Akins.

Badgers win fourth straight

Bryce Winter led Lampasas with 16 points and six steals and the Badgers beat Brady 68-49 on Tuesday for their second road victory in as many nights.

Austin Martin added 14 points for Lampasas, which has won four straight since losing its season opener. Kyle Sims had 10 points, five rebounds and five assists. Xavier Nix added eight points and eight boards.

The Badgers finished with 18 steals, a night after collecting 23 in a win at Brownwood.

“Defense won it for us again,” Lampasas coach Aaron Nuckles said. “We wore them out.”

Lampasas trailed 19-18 after the first quarter, but outscored the Bulldogs (1-1) 40-18 over the next two periods.

The Badgers travel to Gatesville on Tuesday.

Salado boys lose 60-59 at Snook

The Salado boys fought back from an eight-point fourth-quarter deficit before coming up a point short in a 60-59 loss at Snook on Tuesday.

Shane Roche led Salado with 11 points.

The Bluejays almost blew the victory with a shaky performance at the foul line, where they converted just 16 of 43 attempts (37 percent). Salado was 9-of-12.

Jake Pittman added eights points for the Eagles. Jeremy Jarvis, Peyton Miller and Anthony Young each had seven.
