With both teams enjoying a off night in their district schedules, Ellison hosted a nonleague volleyball match against Gatesville on Friday in Killeen.

The contest went to four sets, and the Lady Eagles came out on top 3-1 (19-25, 26-24, 25-17, 25-22).

Ellison (18-11, 3-3 District 8-6A) was led offensively by junior Elicia Barcinas with eight kills, followed by fellow junior Symone Thomas with six. Junior Kieran Means had four kills, and Thomas added six blocks to her ledger.

Sophomore Jakarta Hope dished out a team-high 22 assists, and junior Samantha Robinson tallied 18 assists and four service aces.

Sophomore Jaraysia Hope registered 18 digs.

The Lady Eagles resume their 8-6A slate Tuesday at Belton (17-15, 2-4) at 6:30 p.m.

Gatesville (25-9, 4-2 17-4A) will host China Spring on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
