The Ellison Lady Eagles volleyball team pulled off a 3-1 road win on Tuesday night over Marble Falls, 25-20, 21-25, 25-18, 25-21.
Leading Ellison in assists were Asia Howard and Miranda Tapia with 12 apiece. Also for Ellison, Kaylai Lewis had nine kills and Bri’anna Gray and Alysia Espada each had seven.
Ellison is now 9-6.
“We started out this match tonight a little slow,” said Ellison head coach William De Gracia. “So I asked our girls to just settle down and relax and that’s exactly what they did. I was very impressed with the way our girls were able to find their rhythm. And once we found our rhythm, we were much more aggressive and it all paid off.”
As for the Game 2 loss, De Gracia said, “It was important for our girls to just focus on the things they can control. I told them ‘You can’t control the refs, just control us.’ ”
De Gracia was especially pleased by the play of the Lady Eagles in Game 4.
“In Game 4, our girls dug, they covered, they made some great kills,” he said. “It was fun to watch. I really enjoyed watching them make play after play. What was also really thrilling for me was to see how well our girls were communicating on the court. They were playing the game exactly as it should be played.
“I think we found out tonight that we have the ability to bounce back if we’re not playing well.
“We know if we just keep our composure we are a very strong team and that we are a difficult team to beat.”
