Ellison boys basketball opponents may have something more to ponder than just defending returning senior star Shamir Bogues.

The eighth-ranked Eagles jumped right into a new season, winning two games in less than 24 hours. And Jamyron Keller turned heads by leading Ellison in scoring in both games.

The freshman combo guard scored 24 points in his Eagle debut Friday night in an 87-56 home rout of A&M Consolidated.

Keller followed up with 18 points Saturday afternoon in a 75-67 win over Arlington Lamar in the Mansfield Tipoff Classic.

Keller had plenty of help Saturday. Nehemiah Nuckolls added 16 points. Bogues and Matthias Nero each had 13.

Ellison rolled to a 28-11 lead after one quarter and led 61-41 after three.

Bogues scored 17 Friday against Consolidated. Trendon Stewart added 14.

Ellison led 49-18 at halftime.

The Eagles (2-0) return to action Thursday at the Coppell Tipoff Tournament.
