At Lometa, Ivan Jasso scored 17 points to lead the No. 23 Lometa Hornets to a 65-48 District 25-1A victory over Jonesboro on Tuesday. Also for Lometa, Adrian Rivera scored 12 points and Carlos Perez, Connell Barnett and Pedro Almaguer each scored 10 points.
“Lots of energy in the gym tonight, great crowd and we came out clicking,” said Lometa head coach Aaron Nuckles. “I thought our guys handled this district contest very well.”
SALADO 40, LAMPASAS 35: At Lampasas, Sarah Kate Kelarek and Taylor Lowrance each scored 10 points and the Lady Eagles (10-14) evened their District 25-4A record at 1-1.
Alexis Theus led the Lady Badgers with 16 points. Nola Bishop added 10.
KILLEEN 6, WACO LA VEGA 0: At Leo Buckley Stadium, Destiny Savini scored two second-half goals in the Lady Roos’ rout.
Teirra Norman started the blitz with 35:35 remaining in the opening half, assisted by Mary Royse.
Lexi Summers made it 2-0, putting a free kick into the net from 30 yards out with 13:39 left in the first half.
Alyssa Cabading scored an unassisted goal less than two minutes later and Killeen (2-1-2) led 3-0 at intermission.
Reyna Ibarra capped the scoring in the second half with 10:36 remaining.
Summers, Lauren Din and Marissa Rios were also credited with assists.
The Lady Roos host Lampasas on Tuesday.
HARKER HEIGHTS 2, SAN ANGELO LAKE VIEW 0: At San Angelo, Chloe Cavnes-Palacios and Anna Leffers each scored a goal to propel the Lady Knights to a nondistrict victory.
Megan Jabsen recorded the shutout in goal while Clarissa Galindo and Delaney Stender each had an assist.
Harker Heights improved to 3-1-1 on the season and will begin play in the Brazos Valley Cup Tournament in Bryan on Thursday.
SALADO 3, GATESVILLE 1: At Gatesville, Tyler Pierce had the first Salado goal, and Julie Craig scored the Lady Eagles’ other two.
Reagan Morreale played goalie for Salado (5-0).
“I thought for only having 13 players available, it was impressive that our girls found a way to win,” said Salado head coach Michael Goos.
ELLISON 1, TAYLOR 0: At Ellison, David Navarro scored the lone goal to lead the Eagles to their third win of the season.
In goal for the Eagles (3-1-1) was Michael Charlton and Erik Luna.
SALADO 2, GATESVILLE 1: At Gatesville, Salado’s Kaden Smien and John Dawson scored, upping the Eagles record to 2-3.
Dawson’s goal was in the final minute of the contest.
“I felt like our boys played really well tonight,” said Goos, who coaches both Salado teams. “Gatesville’s defense was very good but our kids didn’t get frustrated. They just kept working hard and were rewarded with the win.”
