Texas Longhorns pledge Gerald Liddell scored 19 points and 16th-ranked Cibolo Steele remained unbeaten with a 48-45 win over No. 19 Ellison on Saturday in the championship game of the Pflugerville tournament.
Casey Armour led Ellison (14-2) with 13 points and was named to an all-tournament team for the second straight weekend. Amir Davis, K.J. Green and Elijah Moleon each added eight points for the Eagles.
In a tight game where neither team led by more than four points at the end of a quarter, the difference may have come down to free throws. Ellison was 7-of-14. Steele finished 11 of 15.
Langston Love added 15 points for Steele (13-0).
The Eagles return to action Friday when they host Shoemaker in the District 8-6A opener.
DUBLIN 74, LAMPASAS 71: Rayce Jackson tossed in 25 points and the Lions avenged Thursday's pool-play loss by beating the Badgers in the championship game of the Hamilton tournament.
Kyle Sims led Lampasas (11-5) with 19 points and made the all-tournament team. Austin Martin scored 18. Phillip Blackstock and Xavier Nix each added 11. Sims and Martin each made four of the Badgers' 10 3-pointers.
The Badgers rallied from a 41-30 halftime deficit to take a lead in the third quarter, but struggled later as Sims fouled out down the stretch.
Still, the Badgers had a chance to tie the game at 73 after collecting a steal under the basket, but they turned the ball over. Dublin added a free throw at the other end and the Badgers missed a desperation heave at the buzzer.
HARKER HEIGHTS 71, CONROE 51: Dillon Gooding scored 26 points as the Knights won their finale at the Houston Methodist Cy-HoopsInvitational.
Jalen Flower added 14 points. Deshawn Walker had 12.
Salado routs Troy in Jarrell tourney
Shane Roche scored 12 points, and Eli Pittman added 10 as the Salado Eagles routed Troy 67-62 on Friday in the Jarrell tournament.
Roche, Pittman and Sammy Brown (eight points) each made a pair of 3-pointers.
Salado led 28-20 at halftime and put the game away with a 25-6 third quarter.
Jeremy Jarvis also scored eight for Salado.
